Seeking Shelves

“Seeking Shelves”

I seek to see trees;
To watch them swaying when
The wind grazes my skin,
To see their roots clamping down
On the crumbly earth beneath my feet.

I seek to see trees
To show them the afterlife,
To let them feel, smell
The intricate scent of centuries worth
Confessing true happiness when they died.

Oh, how I see faint grins on their trunk.
